Abstract
RAIGOSA, Luis. The ages of mexican constitutionalism and the role of Constitutional reforms. Bol. Mex. Der. Comp. [online]. 2017, vol.50, n.150, pp.1319-1349. ISSN 2448-4873. https://doi.org/10.22201/iij.24484873e.2017.150.11841.
In this essay, the evolution of Mexican constitutionalism is addressed, taking as an explanatory axis the importance and the regulation of the constitutional amendment function, which is of remarkable importance in the legal history of Mexico. In addition, the author identifies different sets of periods for the way that the amendment function has emerged and evolved, called the “ages of Mexican constitutionalism”. The criteria for the proposed periodization consist in the identification of legal and sociopolitical factors of historical nature. Without these elements, the author says, it would be impossible to assess the efficiency of it. Thus, four ages of the Mexican constitutionalism are determined: an age of ineffective constitutionalism, an age of admitted constitutionalism, an submitted constitutionalism, and, finally, an balanced constitutionalism.
