HERRERA-GARCIA, José Carlos; SANCHEZ-PEREZ, Rubén; ARROYO-CABRERA, Carlos  and  NUCHE-SALAZAR, Patricia. Hemoptysis mass in cystic fibrosis treatd with Plug IV Occluder. Neumol. cir. torax [online]. 2015, vol.74, n.2, pp.112-117. ISSN 0028-3746.

The haemoptysis is a complication commonly reported in patients diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and affects approximately 9% of the population. It may be in limited quantity to massive events that threaten the patient's life. Its pathogenesis is complex, but the most commonly accepted cause is persistent airway inflammation associated with neovascularization with damage to the vasculature of the bronchial arteries. The case of a 22 year old with confirmed diagnosis of cystic fibrosis in whom control of hemoptysis was achieved through embolization of bronchial arteries and placement PLUG IV Occluder device percutaneously successfully described.

Keywords : Cystic fibrosis; hemoptysis; embolization; Occluder device.
