The objective of this work is to discuss the concept of pedagogic model and describe its historical trajectory. The first section presents a description of how pedagogic models were brought into education. The second part discusses how the concept of pedagogical model recreates a time in education history in which two devices for social reproduction were present: knowledge and culture. Likewise it describes changes in the social bases which have allowed the proliferation of pedagogic models which in turn have resulted in the semantic weakening of the phrase. The third one elaborates a brief description of the concept of model, it advances in the analysis of pedagogic models and it interprets the nature and function of pedagogic models during modernity and post-modernity. Finally, it lays out some conclusions, for example, the importance of new ways of taking on education considering the necessities of the XXI century.
