Abstract

This article analyzes the public performance of the primate Archbishops of the Catholic Church in Mexico, Ernesto Corripio Ahumada, Norberto Rivera Carrera and Carlos Aguiar Retes, over the period 1977-2019. Its relationship with the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate and with other key social and political actors is considered, with special emphasis placed on comparing the performance of the Archdiocese of Mexico, in the context of the 1985 and 2017 earthquakes.
