Abstract
GUZMAN LECHUGA, Adolfo and VALDEZ BORROEL, María del Socorro Gabriela. Social service as a didactic resource to intervene in social reality. Zincografía [online]. 2018, vol.2, n.4, pp.44-61. Epub Oct 09, 2020. ISSN 2448-8437. https://doi.org/10.32870/zcr.v0i4.54.
The text presents an outline of the origins of social service in Mexico, as a frame of reference for the Social Commitment program of the EAP (School of Plastic Arts), in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila. It describes the outstanding activities and achievements of 20 regular students and 113 internal and external volunteers, with 12 support teachers during the period 2014-2016. It also makes a reminder of the purposes that gave rise to social service in Mexico and a call to the vindication of the service as the opportunity to introduce the student to the social reality, through contact with vulnerable groups and the problems of their community, what promotes a change of attitude and self-assessment that the student develops when offering the service.
