The clients of the Mexican banking system are those having at least a savings or credit account in one of the banks in Mexico. In order to evaluate the advancement of banking, this document proposes a methodology to calculate the number of users having deposits or credit in a bank. Neither authorities nor banks have published the number of clients in every bank; for that matter the method presented is the result of using deposits and credit balances reported by the financial institutes. Whenever the number of clients in each bank is not provided and the number of users belonging to two or more banks, there is a possibility to apply the methodology presented in this document.
