Abstract

BLANCO, Alejandro  and  JACKSON, Luiz. Career Patterns of Mexican Sociologist, 1951-1970. Estud. sociol [online]. 2021, vol.39, n.115, pp.139-176.  Epub Sep 06, 2021. ISSN 2448-6442.  https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2021v39n115.1971.

In this article we defend the hypothesis that the transformation of the practices and working styles of Mexican sociology in the 1950s was conditioned by an alteration in the social recruitment of its practitioners and their career patterns. To this end we collected pertinent biographical information (social origin, academic training, professional performance and intellectual production) on the directors and professors of the National School of Political and Social Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico during the period between 1951 and 1970.

Keywords : Mexican sociology; institutionalization; social origin; trajectory; career patterns.
