In the current context of the implementation of the Acuerdos de la Paz in Colombia, it is relevant to elaborate reflections that allow an integral comprehension of the changing processes that had determined the violence in this country, and the identification of its bases in the set of the contemporary society. In that way, the objective of this document is to make explicit the relation between Colombian violence and the concrete forms that has assumed, from the nineteenth century to the present, the reproduction of capital in Colombia. Based on this, we propose, in first place, an approach to the specificities of violence in two moments that are linked to the establishment and change of the patterns that has followed the capital for its reproduction in the country; in second place, we analyze the development of the Colombian armed conflict in the current context; and finally, we identify the common aspects, the divergences and the interests that underlie the treatment of violence an peace in the political projects of the last two governments.
