Abstract

The endoscopy has a fundamental role in the diagnosis and management of pancreatic diseases. In the case of chronic pancreatitis, one of the most important aspects for the patient is pain management. There are different endoscopic methods to help these patients in managing it. In this paper, a description of the current role of endoscopic treatment approaches for pain of pancreatic origin is made, including celiac plexus block, endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocyst, pancreatic duct decompression and treatment of biliary strictures secondary to chronic pancreatitis.
