Abstract

This paper identifies competitiveness factors for the manufacturing subsectors of the State of Mexico and builds a competitiveness index using principal component analysis (PCA). It is shown that the most competitive industries in the period analysed were the manufacture of computer equipment; communication, measurement and other electronic equipment, components and accessories; machinery and equipment; petroleum and coal derivatives; and chemicals; on the contrary, the least competitive were: food, garment manufacturing; and the wood industry.
