Abstract

CORRALES C., Salvador  and  MENDOZA COTA, Jorge Eduardo. Transport Infrastructure and exports in the Northern border of Mexico. Rev. econ. [online]. 2021, vol.38, n.97, pp.9-34.  Epub Dec 06, 2021. ISSN 2395-8715.  https://doi.org/10.33937/reveco.2021.216.

The objective of this article is to identify the efficiency of transportation infrastructure for facilitating the exports on the northern border of Mexico. The methodology used was based on the calculation of several infrastructure indicators and the estimation of a panel data model to analyze the impact of transportation infrastructure on the exports of the region. The results suggest that investments in railroads and highways would reduce congestion at border crossings and improve access roads to border ports. In addition, the results highlight the need to finance more customs to facilitate cargo verification.
