Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the rural aging and some of the production activities from an anthropological perspective. Evidenced through ethnography, the correlation between specific production practices, and how they will reach old age and lived. To do this, we analyze the lifestyles that are generated at its "practical" in their daily lives, especially in productive activities. Detected two lifestyles: the traditional and the new rurality. It is found that the experiences and expectations with which producers have built a social space that is theirs, not only as individuals but as a community, making the difference of rural aging and certain way of dealing with reality and to understand. The information was obtained in locations in the central part of the state of Veracruz in 2008 and 2009 (municipalities to which this applies are: Tlacolulan, Naolinco and Tlapacoya). In each place had a minimum of 10 key informants (farmers who had been farming for over 20 years in the same place and had a broader view of their position as producers).
