Abstract

RODRIGUEZ SIERRA, Ana María. Post-Latin Americanism, Post-Occidentalism, and the literature as a place of resistance: The Case of Recado confidencial a los chilenos by Elicura Chihuailaf. Valenciana [online]. 2023, vol.16, n.32, pp.231-258.  Epub Dec 08, 2023. ISSN 2007-2538.  https://doi.org/10.15174/rv.v16i32.711.

In the book Teorías sin disciplina, theorists Santiago Castro-Gómez, Alberto Moreiras and Walter Mignolo, question the discourses produced on Latin America from the American and Latin American academy notably influenced by the vision of the northern country. They postulate the need to produce new discourses linked to the local and the diverse in response to the current globalizing homogenizing impulse. Here, we present an account of the reflections of these theorists and exemplify them through the dialogue of the theories with the literary work of Elicura Chihuailaf entitled Recado confidencial a los chilenos. The objective of this article is to demonstrate the postcolonial and posoccidentalism character of a literary work that is in itself a form of resistance and opposition to that discursive homogenization of Latin American identity that, since westernization and the permanence of colonial thought, has prevailed for a long time in Latin American studies.

Keywords : Latinamericanism; Posoccidentalism; Postlatinmericanism; Literature; Mapuche; Chile; Criticism.
