Abstract

GALLARDO PARRODI, María de Lourdes Graciela  and  PENICHE MONTFORT, Ana Laura. Perspectives and Reflections on Preventive Conservation: the Implementation of the Systems Approach. Intervención (Méx. DF) [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.14, pp.5-15. ISSN 2007-249X.

This ESSAY discusses the use of system theory as a platform for understanding the problems of preventive conservation through a proposal to define the dimensions in which this discipline is carried out, identifying and delimiting four of its elements and recognizing the systemic relationships between them. This approach argues that only through the complete understanding of a given system can preventive conservation be implemented in a feasible, orderly and positive manner. The text also includes a review of certain methods used to evaluate consequent actions and weigh the cost of implementation.

Keywords : systems theory; preventive conservation; operative dimensions; systemic relations; archives.
