Abstract

CAMACHO-LINTON, Adair; RAMIREZ-MALDONADO, Hugo; DE LOS SANTOS-POSADAS, Héctor Manuel  and  ZAMUDIO SANCHEZ, Francisco José. Yield tables for teak (Tectona grandis L.) in the state of Campeche. Rev. mex. de cienc. forestales [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.19, pp.92-101. ISSN 2007-1132.

Production tables were devised for teak (Tectona grandis) plantations in the state of Campeche; these tables are applicable to areas with similar environmental conditions. Information regarding 233 trees that were dominant in the plots and whose ages ranged between 1.2 and 21 years was processed. The productivity of the plots was estimated based on the approximation of the site index by means of the height of the dominant trees at a baseline age of 23 years, which is the turn expected from some of the largest plantations established in the country. The height of these trees corresponds to a projection derived from the application of the adjusted model in this work, since no data for higher ages were obtained. The yield projection was based on the average tree. Growth equations for height and diameter were adjusted according to Shumacher’s three-parameter model. Production tables are shown for a density of 1 055 trees ha-1, based on 1 111 specimens in a plantation with 95% survival. Three productivity levels were selected: at 19 years, a low lever with a site index of 15 m and a volume of 134 m3 ha-1; an intermediate level, with 20 m and 309 m3 ha-1, and a high level, with 25 m and 592 m3 ha-1. These values are indicative, since the cultivation process will involve thinnings that will keep the volumes lower.
