Abstract

HERRERA, Eduardo; MAGANA, Víctor  and  MORETT, Sigrid. Relationship between Precipitation extreme events and floods. Case study: Tulancingo, Hidalgo. Nova scientia [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.21, pp.191-206. ISSN 2007-0705.  https://doi.org/10.21640/ns.v10i21.1527.

We analyzed the dynamics of the more significant floods in Tulancingo, Hidalgo, by characterizing the extreme precipitation hazard. Studying the precipitation climatology allows us to determine the occurrence of extreme events and its temporal and spatial patterns. The extreme events were associated with disaster hemerographic records. Disaster-related spatial patterns allow establishing prevention strategies using precipitation forecast.

Keywords : precipitation; flood; extreme events; disaster; risk.
