Abstract

LOPEZ FLORES, Luis Moisés. ¡I’m not a Sexist, but...! A Philosophical Approach to Sexism and Sex-Gender Ills. En-clav. pen [online]. 2021, vol.15, n.30, e465.  Epub Jan 24, 2022. ISSN 2594-1100.  https://doi.org/10.46530/ecdp.v0i30.465.

Following the work of Lawrence Blum on racism I develop the concept of “sex-gender ills”. This category is conceptually and morally different from sexism, which is defined by inferiorization or antipathy conditions. The advantage of sex-gender ills as category is the creation of a moral and semantic domain different from sexism. In defining sex-gender ills I revise some hard cases as: a) sex-gender ignorance and insensibility, b) affirmative actions, c) identity socialization, and d) male privilege. Usually confused with sexism these cases must be understood as examples of sex-gender ills.

Keywords : sexism; sex-gender ills; male privilege; Lawrence Blum.
