Abstract
MARTINEZ-LICONA, José Francisco; INFANTE BLANCO, Alejandra and MEDINA ORTIZ, Luisa Paola. Axes of Rationality in the Family and parenting Models: A Qualitative Construction of Theories about the Family. En-clav. pen [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.20, pp.115-134. ISSN 2594-1100.
The family, in actuality, represents one of the concerns of society due to the impact of the dynamics and transition the globalized and postmodern world brings in the structure and roles of those who shape the family. This institution, that for many years retained its traditional nature in our country, has suffered a series of transformations in the last 50 years. As a model of coexistence and as an educational institution of cultural reproduction, from the legal, anthropological, social and psychological perspectives, the family today is a field that needs to be investigated from different areas, in order to find elements that promote its preservation through a model of positive parenting. This study emerges from the concern about family culture in our days, and the consideration that behind the actions carried out by parents in relation to parenting there is a system of ideas that guide them. It presents the result from a mixed exploration of families from Mexico City, regarding the concept of family and its implications for parenting. The results are grouped into four major theories that shape the thinking of parents, and shows the relationship of these theories as attributed to parental models.
