Abstract

AMADOR, Édgar; MENDOZA SALGADO, Renato A.; RAMIREZ ROSAS, Juan J.  and  PALACIOS, Eduardo. First formal record of the Black-throated Magpie-Jay (Calocitta colliei) from Baja California Sur, Mexico. Huitzil [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.1, pp.22-23. ISSN 1870-7459.

This is the first formal sighting report of the Black-throated Magpie-Jay (Callocita colliei) from Baja California Sur, México. Sightings of flocks of up to nine individuals of this species have occurred since 2002 in the region. We consider that it is likely that these birds come from escaped birds that have found a suitable habitat that supports a feral population.

Keywords : birds; Corvidae; new record; introduced species.
