Abstract

MIER ODRIOZOLA, José Manuel et al. Bone metastasis in lung and pulmonary emphysema in a healthy individual with chronic cough and weight loss. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.4, pp.358-360.  Epub May 26, 2023. ISSN 1870-7203.  https://doi.org/10.35366/107124.

Pulmonary osseous metaplasia is an infrequent pathology characterized by the formation of mature bone tissue in the lung parenchyma. At present, the mechanism of osseous formation, outside the bones, is not clear. An abnormal bone formation that is not related to neoplastic processes, with or without pulmonary symptoms, is not reported in literature very often. We present the case of a 66-year-old man with bone metaplasia in the lung, confirmed by pathology. The finding of isolated pulmonary osseous metaplasia does not require specific treatment and is not related to the clinical prognosis.

Keywords : Bone metaplasia; pulmonary nodule; emphysema; chronic cough; lung metaplasias.
