Abstract

Correlating the dyslipidemia frequency on overweigh and obesity patients. We classify to pediatric patients (5-14 years old) in overweight or obesity accord to Pediatrics Mexican Academy’s criteria, classified in percentiles the waist circumference, a questionnaire was conducted to average daily intake of fiber, also apply a scale about physical activity. For the study, 84 patients met inclusion criteria, which 92.7% of men were classified as obese, unlike the women’s group which was 100. The frequency of dyslipidemia was reported in 52.4% of the population, being hypertriglyceridemia the most frequent in males. Waist circumference above the 90 percentile, increased three times the risk to develop hypertriglyceridemia, OR 3.1 IC 95% (1.07-9). Dyslipidemia was presented in percentiles body mass index lower than suggested international. Studies are needed to evaluate whether the use of national indicators helps prevent complications. Measuring waist circumference recommended in clinical evaluation.
