Abstract

URTUBEY, Pedro Ignacio. Paul Lafargue on the right to be lazy. Critical reading from Marxist code. Tla-melaua [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.47, pp.220-240.  Epub Oct 07, 2020. ISSN 2594-0716.

The purpose of this writing is to reconstruct the proposal given by Paul Lafargue in The right to be lazy and as to identify the fundamental points on which his thesis is based. Starting from fundamental concepts of the Marxist theory such as “concrete work”, “abstract work” and “merchandise fetish”, this writing formulates a critical analysis of Lafarguean postulation. Opposite to the opposition given by the author, this writing confirms that the concepts of “work” and “laziness” or “leisure” are elements of the same process of regimentation in a workers life, in the capitalist concept of production. This writing gathers a reason to be from a qualitative methodology, structured on interpretation of the text by Paul Lafargue.

Keywords : Paul Lafargue; right to be lazy; work; leisure; Marx.
