Abstract

GONZALEZ AVILA, María Eugenia  and  ARZALUZ SOLANO, Socorro. Gobierno y gestión de los servicios del agua en seis ciudades fronterizas, México-Estados Unidos. Región y sociedad [online]. 2012, vol.24, n.spe3, pp.213-255. ISSN 2448-4849.

This article summarizes the research results and reflections of academics from El Colegio de la Frontera Norte, in Northwest Mexico, on the management of water utilities in three Mexican cities and their U. S. counterparts. Two main axes arose from the analysis: the political and the environmental. The researchers studied the management of public water services in order to compare and analyze local water utility management in the six border cities, identify best practices, and make them known as government experiences. Findings are presented, emphasizing water quality treatment processes and technical capacity of the staff. A comparative method was considered for the binational aspect.

Keywords : water; local government; environment.
