Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the elements of masculinity from the narrative of men who exercise partner violence in groups of reflection for aggressors. Social constructionism and grounded theory was used as a paradigms of analysis and the technique of content analysis to work with documents and observation protocols. The sample was of 35 men and the results reflect an unattainable masculine ideal that generates discomfort; social messages about being a man related to physical, sexual and psychological masculine violence; Paternity as an attribute of masculinity and male violence and male fear that generates violence.
