This extract no showed any anti-inflammatory activity, in the acute and chronic models assessed. The ethanolic extract had not hypoglycemiant activity and no differences were observed in the ceruloplasmin levels or nitrite concentration, in daily administration during a week of this extract, in the statistical analysis also showed no differences between the treatment groups. Conclusion. This ethanolic extract of Eryngium heterophyllum should not be recommended for use in diabetes or inflammatory processes such as rheumatoid arthritis.
