Abstract

The neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), a group of infectious and non-infections illness that promote poverty to those population that suffer them. Among the most common causes of illness, the most common is extreme poverty of people living in developing countries. Their control and elimination is now a priority for achieving United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The present study objectives are to describe the situation of NTDs in Latin America and the Caribbean, to contribute toward building networks for research in drug treatments and vaccines to control NTDs and to stimulate the participation of the pharmaceutical sector and its professionals in this important problem.
