Abstract
CHARLES-LEIJA, Humberto; TORRES GARCIA, Aldo Josafat and COLIMA VALADEZ, Laura Maribel. Socio-demographic characteristics of the vote for deputies, 2015. An analysis of space econometry. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2018, vol.8, n.17, pp.107-135. ISSN 2007-8846. https://doi.org/10.21696/rcsl8172018809.
The aim of this analysis is to identify the main sociodemographic variables that influenced the vote decision in the election of deputies in Mexico in 2015. Data from 66 740 electoral sections are used. As a methodology, an exploratory data analysis and an econometric analysis are elaborated. It was found, in all the parties, effects of spatial dependence. One limitation to this study was the impossibility of knowing the other variables in the electoral section level. The originality of this analysis lies in the use of spatial econometrics techniques to isolate spatial effects and see more clearly the impact of sociodemographic factors. The study shows that the contiguity between the electoral sections is an important element when considering the political aspects of Mexico.
Keywords : Electoral geography; spatial econometrics; determinants of the vote; representative’s election.
