Abstract

VACAS MORA, Víctor. State of violence, State violence. Anthropological reflections on war, violence and the State. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2015, vol.5, n.10, pp.178-203. ISSN 2007-8846.

This article is concerned with the theories regarding the State as well as those that have focused on violence, with the intent of finding possible links that articulate the concepts or disunities that separate them. In this manner and after a brief presentation on the intents, the State is partially reviewed within the framework of the social studies in order to, once the state in question has been outlined, enter into the analysis of violence as an anthropological problem. Lastly, covering both itineraries, it is concluded with some reflections related to the presentation and referencing both phenomenon, looking for possible nexus as well as briefly stating some conclusions.

Keywords : political anthropology; theories of the state; power and society; violence and culture; case studies.
