Abstract
MERA LEMP, María José; MARTINEZ DE TABOADA KUTZ, Cristina and COSTALAT-FOUNEAU, Anne Marie. Identity Dynamics in Psychosocial Transition Processes: Adolescence and Migration. A Case Study. Migr. Inter [online]. 2014, vol.7, n.3, pp.221-248. ISSN 2594-0279.
This article examines the process of the construction of psychosocial identity during adolescence and in the context of migration, from the perspective of Ego-ecology. it studies the case of a young, Latin American, first- generation immigrant woman in Spain in the Autonomous community of the Basque country. Qualitative IMIS methodology is used. The results show that during the transition to adulthood, migration is an element that entails significant identity tensions, particularly when it is associated with belonging to a social group that lacks legitimacy, recognition and power in the reception context. The perception of intergroup relations in constant conflict creates serious difficulties in achieving a constructive life project and a successful positive identity.
Keywords : identity; adolescence; migration; social representations; intergroup relations.
