Abstract

This article analyzes Colombian immigrant youth in Spain and the process of reconstructing their collective identity and the relationship of that to social integration processes. Notable among the study's main findings are: 1) the identity changes the young people present on their arrival in Spain; 2) the dissimilarities to other collectives from which these Colombians reconstruct their resistance identities; 3) elements of national identification; 4) the tendency to identify supra-nationally, as Latin Americans; and 5) the fragmentation of the identity and the solidarity networks of the Colombian community in Spain.
