Abstract

The following article there is a description of the phenomenon of CONDEPA -the populist party with Indian features, which had a huge impact on political and social life of Bolivia in the 80s and 90s of XX century. Aspiring to present the influence of the ethnic factor on the political life of Bolivia, the article analyses the ideology and symbolism of condepa’s movement. It discovers how the two identities: ethnic and national, affected the articulation of CONDEPA. It also describes the historical processes, which explain the appearance of the party, such as the country- city migration, lack of the political representation of marginalized sectors, the role of mass media in the alternative movements articulation and many more.
