Abstract

TRUJILLO EDGAR, Andrea  and  GOYAS MEJIA, Ramón. Memory of a station. The Huixtla, Chiapas, train station and its meanings through time. LiminaR [online]. 2023, vol.21, n.1, e949.  Epub Jan 20, 2023. ISSN 2007-8900.  https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v21i1.949.

The objective of this article is to analyze the meanings attributed to the train station located in Huixtla, based on people’s experiences coexisting with it currently and in the past. Through oral histories, narrative sources such as verbal and written testimonies, we can understand how this space is legitimized as a symbolized place. Thus, the station should be preserved as part of Huixtla residents’ collective memory, history, and identity.

Keywords : railway stations; railway; collective memory; identity.
