Abstract
HERROS SANCHEZ, Irma Guillermina and JARVIO FERNANDEZ, Antonia Olivia. Promoting reading and writing in older adults. LiminaR [online]. 2022, vol.20, n.1, e895. Epub Sep 12, 2022. ISSN 2007-8900. https://doi.org/10.29043/liminar.v20i1.895.
In this article we discuss an intervention aimed at the continuous education and social bonding of older adults using improved reading and writing skills training. The goal was to develop reading aloud skills, critical reflection, creative writing, and cognitive stimulation. The methodology used was action research, with activities of dialogic reading and creative writing. An improvement was recorded in communication skills, knowledge of literary texts, memory development, concentration and analysis, ability to interrelate, collaboration, teamwork, and expression of feelings. Older adults can learn and interact, but they require inclusive spaces where, under proper guidance, their skills can improve.
