Abstract

CARRANZA PENA, Leticia. Transformation of school conflicts and harmonious coexistence at the upper secondary school level. An approach to liberating peace. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2018, vol.18, n.78, pp.73-91. ISSN 1665-2673.

Through this paper we aim to contribute to the construction of peaceful coexistence and the transformation of conflicts in academic spaces at the upper secondary school level. For the development of this research, we considered ethnography for peace (ethnopeace) as a methodology to analyze the weave of interactions within the academic community, as well as some fundamental theories of philosophy, pedagogy, peace education and conflicts. The concept of liberating peace is proposed as a Latin American contribution to peace studies because it offers a decolonizing perspective that enables local narratives. The proposal is encouraging; it seeks harmonious coexistence in schools and considers peaceful practices that are humanizing through horizontal relationships. The results of the research demonstrate events determined by time, space and collective participation, which can be passive, violent or indifferent. Differences based on interests, needs and diverse perceptions were identified.

Keywords : Academic coexistence; conflict transformation; liberating peace; potential for conflict; upper secondary school.
