Abstract

BENITEZ SANCHEZ, María Luisa. Artistic language in childhood education: problem-solving through visual language. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.66, pp.103-126. ISSN 1665-2673.

This paper analyzes the educational potential represented by the practice of problem-solving techniques through plastic expression, language changes and the dynamic experience of space for teaching-learning in the childhood education cycle. The objective is to discover if these practices can promote creativity and competent learning, facilitating the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. The sample is composed of 24 five-year-olds and a control group of 25 five-year-olds at the same public childhood education center. For the evaluation, we used two instruments: creativity test with circles (adapted from Guilford’s battery) and the graphic level test, created during this research in order to measure the graphic maturity of the participants.

Keywords : Art; creativity; artistic languages; problem-solving.
