Abstract

Tacrolimus is a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressive agent used to prevent rejection in solid organ transplantation. It has also been used in several immunological diseases including nephrotic syndrome, systemic lupus eritematosus, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo and psoriasis. This article is a review of tacrolimus pharmacokinetics, therapeutic monitoring, adverse effects, toxicity and clinical use in children.
