Abstract

SALAS, Carlos. Labor trajectories between employment, unemployment and micro economic units. Pap. poblac [online]. 2003, vol.9, n.38, pp.121-157. ISSN 2448-7147.

The common theoretical approximation to unemployment, particularly the idea of rigid segmentation whereby the microunits function as a temporal relieve for active workers seeking formal employment, do not apply to Mexico's reality. This work relies on the analysis of trajectories of the working population that take place between different industries, major economic activities as well as working units of different size. This analysis is associated with the use of logit regressions that relate employment in microunits with different demographical and economic treats of the working population. The results underscore the persistent location of workers within microunits. This is done without pretending to achieve empirical econometric measures, but aiming to understande the dynamics and implications of the existence of microunits. In fact, conclusions address as well the implicit hazards of statistical techniques when confirming hypothesis.
