Abstract

RODRIGUEZ-ACOSTA, Maricela; VEGA-FLORES, Karla; DE GANTE-CABRERA, Víctor Hugo  and  JIMENEZ-RAMIREZ, Jaime. Distribution of the genus Jatropha L. (Euphorbiaceae) in the state of Puebla, México. Polibotánica [online]. 2009, n.28, pp.37-48. ISSN 1405-2768.

Eleven Jatropha species are reported for Puebla representing 24% of diversity in Mexico. All of them are distributed mainly in Cuenca del Balsas and Tehuacan-Cuicatlan Valley. The types of vegetation with more species are the tropical deciduous forest and xerophytic scrub. The presence of J. elbae J. Jiménez Ram., J. oaxacana J. Jiménez Ram. & R. Torres, J. pseudocurcas Müll. Arg. and J. websteri J. Jiménez Ram. is reported for the first time in the state. We highlight the probable disappearance of two Puebla endemic species, J. riojae Miranda and J. rufescens Brandegee.

Keywords : Jatropha; Euphorbiaceae; Puebla; distribution; Mexico.
