Abstract

PASSONI, Lucía I.. Knowledge Management: An Application in Academic Departments. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2005, vol.14, n.1, pp.57-73. ISSN 1405-1079.

The aim of this proposal is the assessment of a knowledge management framework applied to an university academic department. The model taxonomy adapted to the academic administration is presented, detailing the diverse phases of their composition. An experiment of knowledge database discovery in an academic database is proposed as an experimental task under the knowledge management conceptual framework, using computational intelligence algorithms. Academic data from the Electronic Engineering career of the National University of Mar del Plata are used. This process allows identifying features of academic evolution from different students groups. As a result, relations that emerge are interesting and useful for the career academic management.

Keywords : knowledge management; academic department; data mining; knowledge discovery; colleges and universities; education policy and planning.
