Abstract

Acute appendicitis is the most common abdominal pathology in the world and it represents the main cause of emergency abdominal surgery; it is the most frequent cause of surgery in patients between 20 and 30 years of age, and it does not have a gender predominance. Its clinical picture is variable, and this fact should be considered in diagnostic studies for accurate diagnosis. The treatment of acute appendicitis should be laparoscopic or open surgery. The purpose of our review is to present updated information on this common topic.
