Abstract

ARMENDARIZ, Saúl I. et al. Comportamiento isotérmico de la precipitación salina en un destilador solar experimental. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2003, vol.47, n.3, pp.287-294. ISSN 0583-7693.

A isothermic precipitation of CaCO3 in a experimental solar still using groundwater as water supply with high concentrations of soluble calcium and sulfates is presented. Three experiments of calcium and bicarbonates reaction were performed. The first experiment was followed during 5 h with incrustations free still, the second, during 12 h with incrustations and the third experiment in a 8 h period with 72 hours of previous contact between the solution and the precipitate. During the first two h in the three experiments, 95.52, 145.37 and 444.4 mg of CaCO3 were formed respectively. In the precipitate was found calcite as the only crystalline phase.

Keywords : Calcium carbonate; precipitate; incrustation; soluble calcium; calcite; soluble sulfates.
