Abstract

LAVARELLO, Pablo José  and  GOLDSTEIN, Evelin. Heterogeneous dynamics in Argentina's agricultural machinery industry. Prob. Des [online]. 2011, vol.42, n.166, pp.85-109. ISSN 0301-7036.

The object of this article is to analyze the technological and productive dynamic of Argentina's agricultural machinery industries. It hypothesizes that although certain subsectors of the industry have managed to establish themselves as exporters in specific segments of the international market, the industry suffers a persistent trade deficit. The rationalization processes of the multinationals in this sector and the responses of local companies to the diffusion of new agronomic packages explain these differentiated dynamics. In this context, the question arises whether the present scheme of horizontal industrial policies makes it possible to overcome the mentioned heterogeneity.

Keywords : Capital goods; agricultural machinery; technological trajectory.
