Abstract
VIEGO, Valentina. Rendimientos crecientes, costos de transporte, eslabonamientos verticales y asimetrías regionales persistentes. Prob. Des [online]. 2010, vol.41, n.162, pp.127-1159. ISSN 0301-7036.
Argentina presents certain stylized features in its pattern of regional development: an absolute absence of convergence in geographical per capita output; stability in spatial incomes gaps and locational patterns of population and economic activity; strong dependence on activities based on the exploitation of natural resources; deficiencies in the haulage transportation network, and significant weight for activities with low internal transportability, among others. The article proposes a variation of the standard model of regional growth developed by Dixon and Thirlwall in the mid-1970s combined with some elements from the focus known as "new economic geography", and is aimed at formally reproducing the empirical regularities referred to above. The model presented makes it possible to extract some economic policy implications.
Keywords : external economies of scale; internal transportation costs; regional growth; inter-regional linkages.
