Abstract

This article analyzes the development of Self-defense Groups in Michoacán between February 2013 and March 2014. The paper discusses the changes of Self-defense Groups: conversion in social movement, factionalism games, Mafia aspects, violence cycles or possible brokerage games that stimulate civilization cycles in the state of Michoacán. This essay draws attention to the relative lack of studies on the issue and suggests lines of research on the subject, which may be undertaken.
