Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present an approach to cases which open a new cycle of conflicts related with the natural resources and territory defense in Argentina. For that, in the first part of the text, we make a brief description of initial moments of social -environmental conflicts, which took place because the installation of cellulose processing plants on the Uruguay River bank, in Gualeguaychú and due to the arrival of an open pit mining proyect, in Esquel. Then, we present a characterization of social movements of the ends of 20th century in Argentina to identify similarities and differences between this actors and social environmental movements typical of early twenty-first century.
