Abstract

NIETO, Nubia. La gestión del agua: tensiones globales y latinoamericanas. Polít. cult. [online]. 2011, n.36, pp.157-176. ISSN 0188-7742.

World history is full of conflicts caused by the scarcity of natural resources: gold, diamonds and oil. However, the water that has not previously been considered a source of conflict, with the climate change it becomes "the blue gold" of this century. This paper analyzes the risks of water shortage worldwide, particularly in Latin America, which despite its abundant resources, is facing scarcity of this element. The population growth, inappropriate management policies, lack of innovative technology and corruption aggravate the situation, putting in danger the development of the Latin American region.
