The current situation faced by the PAN results from a conflict that has persisted since its foundation. From its origin, this political party has participated in the creation of the Mexican State by opting for being an opposition that stays within institutional limits. However, there has always been a sector within itself that pushes for a more radical course of action. Groups that belong to that wing were marginalized from the PAN's development and excluded from the State's political project. Towards the end of the twentieth century, different members of those groups emerged, decided to dispute the control of the party and the Mexican State's project.
