In 1986, mining exploitation ended -oficially- in Cachanía, Baja California Sur, when the Stale-owned Compañía Minera de Santa Rosalía closed down. From the point of view of Economic Geography, this paper considers the consequences of that closure with regard to labour force and the local economy.
