Abstract

FAINSTEIN, Carla. Territorial organizations and environmental structural litigation in Argentina. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2024, vol.86, n.2, pp.443-472.  Epub Apr 19, 2024. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2024.2.62276.

This article seeks to investigate the effects and transformations that the judicialization of urban environmental conflicts generate in social organizations located in urban informal settlements. It focuses on two cases in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires in which the ruling on a structural litigation based on the right to the environment led the state to implement a series of actions on a polluted territory. Through qualitative fieldwork that included several interviews and the review of documentation, it analyzes the repertoires of collective action directed to multiple state interlocutors.

Keywords : collective action; urban policies; judicialization; informal settlements; social conflict.
