Abstract
BONAZZI, Mariana; VOMMARO, Gabriel and MALAGAMBA OTEGUI, Romina. Intermediary-entrepreneurs: Nonpublic resources, popular sectors and politics in Argentina. Rev. Mex. This article identifies a hybrid type of political intermediary in Latin American popular sectors: the intermediary-entrepreneur. The main political asset of these hybrid actors stems from their links to non-state circuits of resources. The political intermediation that they practice is thus based on market mediation. This distinguishes them from the brokers identified in the literature, whose strengths derive from the control of territory and the provision of public goods. Based on ethnographic research conducted in La Matanza, Argentina, the paper discusses the main features of this type of intermediation and its impact on the contemporary production of a popular ethos associated to entrepreneurship.
